Is River Grove worth it salary-wise?

Household incomes average around $74,793 in River Grove. Rent is about $1,230/month for a decent place. The unemployment rate is 2.7%, which is pretty low. You can expect to pay around $1,230 for rent here. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. What are your go-to spots? There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a nurse, 40, moved here 1 years ago from Minneapolis. I've lived in North and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Great outdoor activities nearby
3. Strong job market in several industries
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Limited high-paying job options
3. The housing market situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- North: Great for couples. hit or miss vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Minneapolis, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is wild. You can live comfortably on $80K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. it was the best decision I ever made. Worth doing your research before committing.

I'm a physical therapist and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Seattle about 11 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Good healthcare facilities
- Decent public transit for the size

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Property taxes are high

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are stable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely average and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Eastside) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is food scene. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

If you value weather, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely better than expected and I've found it's been a really good experience overall. My neighborhood (Maple Ridge) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. nightlife is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.
