Best neighborhoods in River Oaks

My family moved here when I was a kid. Homes are going for about $202,800 on average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I wrong here? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely better than expected and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Old Town) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Houston, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and I'm still on the fence after all this time. Schools in Cedar Grove area are average. Kids love it here.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it exceeded my expectations. Compared to San Diego it's challenging.
