River Road vs Tampa -which is better?

OK so I'm retired and Homes are going for about $360,400 on average. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Low crime in most areas
- Easy commute
- Walkable downtown
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Cold winters
- Not very walkable
- Poor road conditions
- Far from major airports
Worth the trade-offs? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

My experience has been mostly positive. I have mixed feelings honestly. The only thing I'd watch out for is food scene. Other than that, Good luck with whatever you decide..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The public transit is genuinely solid and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Sunset) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Limited entertainment options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Old Town. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in finance. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..
