Living in Riverdale -the reality
Been living here since 2018. With a population of 10,515, Riverdale is a small town. Homes are going for about $104,800 on average. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. Rent is about $1,204/month for a decent place. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.
Pros:
- Great weather
- Good job market
- Close to nature
- Low taxes
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons:
- Rising rent prices
- Not very walkable
- Chain restaurants dominate
Anyone in a similar situation? TIA! Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The city has invested a lot in new development.
