Hi all, I grew up here but left for a while. With a population of 316K, Riverside is a mid-size city. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Am I wrong here? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Pine Hills. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally challenging. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Southern.
