Is Riverside a good place to retire?

My wife and I are planning to retire in the next few years. We're considering Riverside because of the outdoor activities. Weather is moderate — about 64F average.

Cost of living looks a bit high but manageable. How's the healthcare situation? Any retiree communities?

I'd add that the parks here are amazing for families. Otherwise spot on!

As someone who moved here from Miami, I can confirm most of this. The job opportunities surprised me the most.

The food scene here is seriously underrated. So many great restaurants.

Public transit needs work but they're investing in it. Should improve in next few years.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Westside and Oakwood are perfectly safe.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is drive around neighborhoods at different times before committing. Makes a big difference.

Respectfully disagree about the job market. In my experience, it really depends on your lifestyle.

Check out the Old Town area. Way more affordable and still close to everything.

As someone who moved here from Atlanta, I can confirm most of this. The friendliness of people surprised me the most.
