Life in Riverside as a young professional

Moved here 9 years ago for work. Riverside has a solid community for young professionals. Income levels are solid here — median is around $88,575. Rent runs about $1,812/month for a typical apartment. The social scene is improving every year. Would I recommend it? Absolutely..

Public transit needs work but they're investing in it. Should improve in next few years.

I've lived in Westside for 10 years and it's a hidden gem honestly.

Respectfully disagree about the safety concerns. In my experience, it's been pretty safe in my area.

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.

As someone who moved here from Chicago, I can confirm most of this. The friendliness of people surprised me the most.

Check out the Cedar Hills area. Way more affordable and still close to everything.

Coming from Phoenix, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are about the same.

Downtown is overrated and overpriced. The suburbs offer way better value.

Weather is the biggest factor for us. Four seasons are nice, not too extreme either way.
