Longtime lurker here, I'm a 43-year-old lawyer and Median household income is $88,575, which feels pretty solid for the area. Average temperature is around 64°F, so the weather is moderate. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Appreciate any input. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up.

I'm a contractor and I've found the quality of life is solid. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a electrician who relocated here from Atlanta about 2 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Good schools in most areas
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it pretty good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is solid.
Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Hope this helps!.

My experience has been mostly positive. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The only thing I'd watch out for is dating scene. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in East for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Diverse dining options
- The cost of living scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. No regrets on my end..

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much stable but now it's average.

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's improved dramatically in recent years.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 7 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the East side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..
