What surprised you most about Riverside?

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Highland area are solid. Kids love it here.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Denver about 1 years ago. The main reasons were retirement and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
Cons that are real:
- Limited entertainment options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are stable, gas is challenging.
Socially, I love the pace of life here. No regrets on my end..

My experience has been mostly positive. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The only thing I'd watch out for is food scene. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..
