Random thought, My partner and I are The unemployment rate is 3.2%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $1,824,700, which is pretty steep. You can expect to pay around $2,419 for rent here. Median household income is $250,001, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. As someone who grew up here, it's been a really good experience overall. A lot has changed in the past few years though. healthcare used to be much pricey but now it's hit or miss.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Cedar Grove) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Chicago, be prepared for the culture shock. walkability is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
