Been meaning to ask this. Crime rate is something to consider -Riverside sits at 139.2 per 100K. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. What are your go-to spots? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

I've lived in Midtown for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Lots of new development happening
- The cost of living scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for couples. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Midtown. It's excellent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in legal. If you're in real estate you might struggle.
People: Generally excellent. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Italian.
Definitely worth checking out..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from LA and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Pine Hills. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 3 months to build a solid friend group.
