It's a a mid-size city city with about 108K people. Crime rate is something to consider -Riverview sits at 582.4 per 100K. The median home value here is around $341,200, which seems about average. Average temperature is around 74--F, so it's warm year-round. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Would love some local perspective. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

I work in marketing here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is challenging. Happy to answer more specific questions..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is traffic. it's not perfect but it works for me. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value housing market, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Midtown) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Minneapolis, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a physical therapist, 38, moved here 1 years ago from Nashville. I've lived in Lakewood and Uptown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Strong sense of community
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Dating scene is rough
2. Homeless population growing downtown
3. The public transit situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Lakewood: Great for couples. challenging vibes, walkable.
- Uptown: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Nashville, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $70K-$80K here.
**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Bought a house here in 2019 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone about the same since then.
