Anyone else feel this way? I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Rent is about $1,890/month for a decent place. The median home value here is around $341,200, which seems about average. Median household income is $95,442, which feels pretty solid for the area. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. The city has invested a lot in new development. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem decent.
I've been here 14 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is excellent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

I've lived in Old Town for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Four distinct seasons
- The job market scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Limited shopping options
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Definitely worth checking out..
