Hello, The unemployment rate is 1.6%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,050/month for a decent place. It's a a small town city with about 12,269 people. Poverty rate is 6.9%, which is pretty low. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Used to live on the Old Town side, now on the Midtown side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Westside. It's hit or miss for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in government. If you're in engineering you might struggle.
People: Generally average. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Asian.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Springfield. It's underrated for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in tech. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like sushi.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

My experience has been mostly positive. I love the pace of life here. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..
