Hey folks, Just moved here 10 months ago and The unemployment rate is 10.6%, which is concerning. You can expect to pay around $677 for rent here. Homes are going for about $484,800 on average. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem surprisingly good.
I've been here 15 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Weather-wise, the summers are tough and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.
