Moving to Riviera Beach -what should I know?

Anyone else feel this way? Born and raised here. It's a a smaller city city with about 38,032 people. With a population of 38,032, Riviera Beach is a smaller city. You can expect to pay around $1,489 for rent here. Average temperature is around 74--F, so it's warm year-round. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Anyone in a similar situation? The food scene here is surprisingly good. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I genuinely enjoy living here. The cultural scene is honestly hit or miss and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Downtown) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. school system is completely different here. And Limited public transit options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Denver it's underrated.
