Honest thoughts on life in Río Grande zona urbana

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Median household income is $22,033, which feels on the lower side for the area. Household incomes average around $22,033 in R--o Grande zona urbana. With a population of 12,325, R--o Grande zona urbana is a small town. Homes are going for about $126,500 on average. Average temperature is around 79--F, so it's warm year-round. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Diverse community
- Lots of new development

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Rising rent prices
- Boring for young people
Worth the trade-offs? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Springfield. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Came here for work and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The school system is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if public transit matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.
