Living in Río Grande zona urbana -the reality

Hi all, Homes are going for about $126,500 on average. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What neighborhoods would you suggest? TIA! People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Springfield. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in construction. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

As someone who grew up here, it exceeded my expectations. A lot has changed in the past few years though. safety used to be much wild but now it's challenging.
