Life in Río Lajas comunidad as a young professional
Been meaning to ask this. We're a young couple and There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Worth the trade-offs? Thanks in advance! It's changing fast -some good, some not so much.

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Portland and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Meadowbrook. It's pretty good for what you get.
Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Southern.
Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 3 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

We moved here with our family and it's improved dramatically in recent years. Schools in East area are solid. Kids love it here.

The food scene here is average. Tons of great BBQ places. I genuinely enjoy living here.
