Day-to-day life in Robertsdale, AL

Anyone else feel this way? I relocated for work and Crime rate is something to consider -Robertsdale sits at 260.2 per 100K. Poverty rate is 3.8%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $198,200, which is actually reasonable. The unemployment rate is 0.5%, which is pretty low. The weather takes some getting used to. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Pros:
- Low crime in most areas
- Low taxes
- Lots of new development
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons:
- Limited dining options

Bought a house here in 2023 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a electrician, 26, moved here 11 years ago from Salt Lake City. I've lived in Riverside and Meadowbrook, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Lots of new development happening
3. Active local events and festivals
4. The people are generally average - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Winters are long and cold
2. Not a lot of cultural diversity
3. The outdoor recreation situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Riverside: Great for young professionals. decent vibes, walkable.
- Meadowbrook: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Salt Lake City, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are developing. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $100K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Good luck with whatever you decide.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
