The good and bad of living in Robinwood

Random thought, The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. Homes are going for about $324,600 on average. You can expect to pay around $1,345 for rent here. Average temperature is around 54--F, so expect cold winters. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Low crime in most areas
- Easy commute
- Active local events
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Hot summers
- Boring for young people
- Limited cultural events
- Chain restaurants dominate
Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Meadowbrook for 14 years. Moved from Seattle for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. real estate is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are growing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's improved dramatically in recent years. The outdoor scene is excellent - we have lakes within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are hit or miss. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Homeless population growing downtown. And dating scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 8/10. Would recommend to anyone considering it.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Used to live on the East side, now on the Pine Hills side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.

I've lived in Westside for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- The traffic scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Property taxes are high
- Chain restaurants dominate

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from San Francisco and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Cedar Grove. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Asian.

Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Highland for about 5 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Close to major attractions
- Good airport with direct flights
- The outdoor recreation scene is solid

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 1 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is public transit. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Eastside side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
