What Rochester Hills does better than anywhere else

Anyone else feel this way? The unemployment rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Is this normal for Rochester Hills?

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much pricey but now it's average.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are surprisingly good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely tough and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Eastside) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. outdoor recreation is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Meadowbrook area are hit or miss. Kids love it here.

Hot take but I have mixed feelings honestly. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 26, moved here 6 years ago from Chicago. I've lived in Springfield and Riverside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally pretty good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The community vibe situation is affordable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Springfield: Great for couples. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Riverside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Chicago, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is developing. You can live comfortably on $70K-$120K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Charlotte about 8 years ago. The main reasons were weather and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are wild, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. No regrets on my end..

Came here for school and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The dating scene is honestly solid and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
