Rochester in the winter -how bad?

First post here. Household incomes average around $104,920 in Rochester. The unemployment rate is 1.7%, which is pretty low. With a population of 12,939, Rochester is a small town. The weather takes some getting used to. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Thanks in advance! It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Bought a house here in 2023 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Came here for retirement and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The public transit is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is traffic. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 13 years and the quality of life is solid. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Used to live on the Maple Ridge side, now on the Highland side. Completely different vibe. it was the best decision I ever made.
