Rochester vs Indianapolis — which is better?

First post here. Born and raised here. You can expect to pay around $1,316 for rent here. The suburbs are where most families end up. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Thoughts? The weather takes some getting used to.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Charlotte and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in South. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in engineering. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: improving. Tons of options if you like seafood.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..
