Hey everyone, With a population of 32,866, Rochester is a smaller city. Crime rate is something to consider -Rochester sits at 298.2 per 100K. Rent is about $1,220/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $79,388 in Rochester. The unemployment rate is 1.9%, which is pretty low. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Austin and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Meadowbrook. It's hit or miss for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in legal. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Hot take but it's been a really good experience overall. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.
