Starting a business in Rochester?

Hi all, With a population of 6,025, Rochester is a small town. Median household income is $94,754, which feels pretty solid for the area. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Has anyone dealt with this? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Property taxes are high but you get good services. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 1 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the cultural scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Meadowbrook side vs the Fairview side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from New York about 6 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Close to major attractions
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Can feel isolated

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are reasonable, gas is challenging.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say it exceeded my expectations. The pet-friendliness is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..
