OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Cedar Grove. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 6 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Definitely worth checking out..

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Lakewood. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 12 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like sushi.

No regrets on my end..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it exceeded my expectations. The pet-friendliness is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.
