Random thought, Median household income is $64,770, which feels about average for the area. You can expect to pay around $1,279 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 8.2%, which is pretty low. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Anyone in a similar situation? Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

We moved here with our family and it was the best decision I ever made. Schools in Midtown area are average. Kids love it here.

I'm a chef and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. The community is underrated and there's always something going on.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a pharmacist, 32, moved here 5 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in The Heights and North, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Limited shopping options
3. The nightlife situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for young professionals. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- North: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt average. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $40K-$70K here.
**Final verdict:**
Feel free to reach out with questions.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

The food scene here is underrated. Tons of great Vietnamese places. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Bought a house here in 2015 and it's not perfect but it works for me. Property values have gone up a bit since then.
