Rock Hill job market vs Indianapolis

Hey folks, I'm originally from Albuquerque and You can expect to pay around $1,279 for rent here. With a population of 74,769, Rock Hill is a smaller city. Household incomes average around $64,770 in Rock Hill. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Thoughts? Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's challenging for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in consulting. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

I've lived in Midtown for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Lots of new development happening
- Active local events and festivals
- The outdoor recreation scene is excellent

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. No regrets on my end..
