Living in Rockford — the reality

Hi all, My partner and I are The median home value here is around $120,900, which is actually reasonable. It's a a mid-size city city with about 148K people. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Let me know your thoughts. Appreciate any input. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 6 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is food scene. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..
