Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because the quality of life is solid. The traffic is honestly improving and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.
I've been here 14 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into running, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the Old Town side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Highland. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in retail. If you're in construction you might struggle.
People: Generally pretty good. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: improving. Tons of options if you like Mexican.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, Feel free to reach out with questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 6 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Highland. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like seafood.
Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The community vibe is genuinely improving and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Midtown) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.
