Random thought, Born and raised here. Household incomes average around $100,156 in Rockford. With a population of 6,162, Rockford is a small town. You can expect to pay around $1,088 for rent here. The weather takes some getting used to. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I wrong here? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Property taxes are high but you get good services.
