Random thought, With a population of 9,094, Rockingham is a small town. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Has anyone dealt with this?

Hot take but the quality of life is solid. I know a lot of people disagree but after 1 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 12 years and it's improved dramatically in recent years. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Bought a house here in 2019 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone about the same since then.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The cultural scene is solid compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Seattle about 12 years ago. The main reasons were weather and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Strong job market in several industries
Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is average.
Socially, I'm still on the fence after all this time. Feel free to reach out with questions..
