Living in Rockland -the reality

OK so Poverty rate is 1.3%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $234,400, which is actually reasonable. Median household income is $55,276, which feels about average for the area. You can expect to pay around $986 for rent here. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Nice parks and trails
- Close to nature
- Lots of new development

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Few job opportunities in some fields
- Boring for young people
People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The suburbs are where most families end up. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
