Planning a move to Rockland -neighborhoods?

Longtime lurker here, Military spouse here. It's a a small town city with about 6,991 people. Rent is about $986/month for a decent place. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Am I overthinking this? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely decent and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (Riverside) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Nashville, be prepared for the culture shock. job market is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

We moved here with our family and the quality of life is solid. Schools in Westside area are excellent. Kids love it here.

I've been living here for 10 years and I'd say I love the pace of life here. The nightlife is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Meadowbrook for 3 years. Moved from Baltimore for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
hospitality is strong here. tech is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are stable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The outdoor scene is decent - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Urban sprawl is real. And pet-friendliness can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 5/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

I work in finance here and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The job market for my field is challenging. It's not for everyone but it works for us..
