My family moved here when I was a kid. The unemployment rate is 3.0%, which is pretty low. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Would love some local perspective. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

I've lived in Old Town for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Denver, I was surprised by walkability. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- The cost of living scene is decent
The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for singles. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (West) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by school system. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The safety scene is tough
The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Dating scene is rough
Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for retirees. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.
