Hey everyone, I work in construction and Crime rate is something to consider -Rocklin sits at 97.7 per 100K. Household incomes average around $120,916 in Rocklin. Homes are going for about $673,300 on average. Poverty rate is 3.0%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I wrong here? Thanks! The weather takes some getting used to. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Highland for 15 years. Moved from LA for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 1-bed in a safe area. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts.
**Employment:**
finance is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
the quality of life is solid. The outdoor scene is decent - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Highland schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited public transit options. Summers can be brutally hot. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
