Is Rockport walkable?

I relocated for work and Rent is about $1,306/month for a decent place. Average temperature is around 72--F, so it's warm year-round. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The suburbs are where most families end up. What do you all think? Thanks in advance! The suburbs are where most families end up. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I genuinely enjoy living here. When I first moved here from Atlanta, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- The school system scene is solid

The downsides:
- Limited entertainment options
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Came here for retirement and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The cultural scene is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

I work in engineering here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is underrated. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in The Heights for 5 years. Moved from Portland for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are decent. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Property taxes are high. And school system can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 5/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Public transit is excellent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
- The cultural scene scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
