Couple moving to Rockwell from out of state

Hi all, Military spouse here. With a population of 2,688, Rockwell is a small town. Poverty rate is 2.8%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $846/month for a decent place. Household incomes average around $64,141 in Rockwell. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The city has invested a lot in new development. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. the quality of life is solid. Internet is tough in most areas.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it exceeded my expectations. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in West. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Asian.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 9 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the dating scene is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is improving.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..
