Hey, Just moved here 13 months ago and Homes are going for about $312,500 on average. Rent is about $1,875/month for a decent place. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 1 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in The Heights for 10 years. Moved from Phoenix for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2024 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
finance is strong here. consulting is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is decent - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Not a lot of cultural diversity. Dating scene is rough. And food scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
