What surprised you most about Rocky Mount?
Been meaning to ask this. It's a a smaller city city with about 54,175 people. Rent is about $919/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Rocky Mount sits at 787.7 per 100K. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.
Pros:
- Great weather
- Growing food scene
- Plenty of shopping options
Cons:
- Cold winters
- Not very walkable
- Limited dining options
Thoughts? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up. The suburbs are where most families end up.
