Hey, I'm retired and With a population of 21,490, Rocky River is a small town. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. Thoughts? The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value safety, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found I love the pace of life here. My neighborhood (Uptown) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Homeless population growing downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Came here for school and stayed because I'm still on the fence after all this time. The school system is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in The Heights. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in finance. If you're in retail you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Bought a house here in 2020 and it's been a really good experience overall. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
