Cost of living reality check -Roessleville

First post here. The city has invested a lot in new development. Has anyone dealt with this? Thanks!

I work in marketing here and I have mixed feelings honestly. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. No regrets on my end..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Meadowbrook for 6 years. Moved from Atlanta for weather. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2016 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are affordable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Meadowbrook schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Nightlife is limited. Homeless population growing downtown. And public transit can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 9/10. Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Used to live on the Fairview side, now on the East side. Completely different vibe. it's been a really good experience overall.

Came here for quality of life and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The community vibe is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Pine Hills. It's improving for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in legal. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like farm-to-table.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is food scene. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.
