I've lived in Eastside for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
the quality of life is solid. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by outdoor recreation. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Close to major attractions
- The public transit scene is solid
The downsides:
- Dating scene is rough
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for young professionals. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value dating scene, you'll love it. The food scene is genuinely surprisingly good and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Downtown) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if traffic matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Lots of new development happening
- Four distinct seasons
Cons that are real:

- Limited shopping options
Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are reasonable, gas is improving.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in education. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like seafood.
No regrets on my end..
