Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want job market, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've lived in Westside for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Four distinct seasons
- The public transit scene is solid

The downsides:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Road conditions need improvement

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from San Francisco about 13 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong job market in several industries

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited shopping options

Financially, we've found it tough compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are affordable, gas is improving.

Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Raleigh about 12 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good internet infrastructure
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Limited high-paying job options

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is solid.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Westside. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in education. If you're in manufacturing you might struggle.

People: Generally better than expected. It took about 15 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Used to live on the East side, now on the Springfield side. Completely different vibe. I have mixed feelings honestly.
