Housing in Rolling Meadows compared to Orlando

Hi all, What would you do? I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Greenfield. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in retail. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Hope this helps!.

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say it's exactly what I was looking for. The weather is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a accountant who relocated here from Houston about 2 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- Diverse dining options

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Chain restaurants dominate

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are competitive, gas is surprisingly good.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Hope this helps!.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Chicago about 3 years ago. The main reasons were family and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Rising rent and home prices
- Not very walkable outside downtown

Financially, we've found it challenging compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is challenging.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The pet-friendliness is honestly tough and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 15 years ago from Boston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Fairview. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in retail. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 17 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Feel free to reach out with questions..
