So, Born and raised here. Average temperature is around 74--F, so it's warm year-round. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is safety. Other than that, Happy to answer more specific questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 1 years and it's been a really good experience overall. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Maple Ridge side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been here 3 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is average.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the Midtown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

As someone who grew up here, I have mixed feelings honestly. A lot has changed in the past few years though. community vibe used to be much growing but now it's hit or miss.

I've lived in Sunset for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The community vibe scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Would recommend to anyone considering it..
