Affordable areas near Roman Forest?

Been meaning to ask this. Crime rate is something to consider -Roman Forest sits at 147.7 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $1,899 for rent here. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Low taxes
- Strong sense of community
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Limited nightlife
- Limited dining options
- Limited cultural events
- Not enough green space
Am I overthinking this? Property taxes are high but you get good services. The weather takes some getting used to. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. I'm a HR manager and I've found the quality of life is solid. The community is average and there's always something going on.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.

I've lived in Lakewood for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Chicago, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Decent public transit for the size
- The cultural scene scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Far from beaches/mountains

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Riverside area are underrated. Kids love it here.

I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The cost of living is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is dating scene. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.
