I'm a remote worker and The unemployment rate is 2.6%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $214,700, which is actually reasonable. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 9 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into biking, this place is underrated.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

I've lived in Downtown for about 4 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from LA, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The safety scene is underrated
The downsides:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Hope this helps!.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is nightlife. Other than that, Definitely worth checking out..

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I'm still on the fence after all this time. No regrets on my end..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want traffic, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been living here for 9 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor recreation is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are pretty good, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to LA it's underrated.
