Is Rome a good place to live?

Hey everyone, Poverty rate is 12.5%, which is around average. It's a a smaller city city with about 31,795 people. The median home value here is around $137,200, which is actually reasonable. Rent is about $871/month for a decent place. With a population of 31,795, Rome is a smaller city. The food scene here is surprisingly good. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The suburbs are where most families end up.

Pros:
- Great weather
- Diverse community
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Limited dining options
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Homelessness issues downtown
- Not enough green space
Would love some local perspective. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. I'm a chef and I've found it exceeded my expectations. The community is decent and there's always something going on.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem challenging.

I've been here 13 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is pretty good.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Midtown side vs the West side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a teacher who relocated here from LA about 1 years ago. The main reasons were a fresh start and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons that are real:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are stable, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. No regrets on my end..
